Volunteers Prepare Homestead Park Planting Area

Mercer Island Parks and Recreation will hold a restoration work party at Homestead Field on Saturday, September 19, from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Volunteers will remove blackberry plants crowding native vegetation while preparing the site for the annual Arbor Day planting planned for next month. No experience is required, and all ages are welcome. Gloves and tools will be provided, although the city recommends bringing leather gloves because supplies are limited. Wear clothes and shoes suitable for outdoor work, bring water, and register before attending.
