Gullah Geechee Festival Fills Brookgreen Gardens

Brookgreen Gardens will host its ninth annual Gullah Geechee Junkanoo Festival from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, September 12, at the Wall Lowcountry Center Complex. The free program for members is available to nonmembers with garden admission and includes African drumming and dance, storytelling, food tastings, children's crafts, mask decorating, an artisans market, community indigo dyeing, and a Junkanoo mask parade. The festival celebrates West African, Caribbean, and Gullah Geechee heritage at 1931 Brookgreen Drive in Murrells Inlet.
