Lynchburg Marks September 11 Anniversary

Friday, September 11, 2026 · Lynchburg, VA

The City of Lynchburg, Lynchburg Police Department, and Lynchburg Fire Department will hold a remembrance ceremony on Friday, September 11, at 10:30 a.m. at the base of Monument Terrace on Church Street. If it rains, the ceremony will move to the sanctuary of West Lynchburg Baptist Church. Church Street and Ninth Street in front of Monument Terrace will be temporarily closed to traffic from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. Motorists should use alternate routes during the closure. The regular Monument Terrace the Troop Rally is scheduled for noon.
